boAt Users Data Leaked: Big news has come out about boAt Lifestyle, a company manufacturing audio products and smartwatches. The news is that the data of 75 lakh customers of Bot has been leaked, which includes personal information like users’ name, contact number, email ID, customer ID. Not only this, a hacker named ShopifyGuy has taken the responsibility of this leak and has made the stolen data available on the dark web.
According to Forbes report, 2 GB data has been breached, which may cause huge loss in future. Experts say that people whose data has been leaked are at higher risk of fraud, phishing scams and identity theft. This can lead to major fraud through bank account, OTP and credit card. Now if hackers have all the information of a person, they can use it in fraud calls and messages.
Risk of financial fraud may increase
There has been no response from Boat Lifestyle regarding this yet. Researcher Soumya Srivastava, who does research on cyber security, says that due to this data leak, the risk of financial fraud and phishing attacks has increased significantly. By accessing the bank account with the stolen data, the hacker can commit fraud with the user even without his knowledge.
This could be the purpose of the leak
NetEnrich Senior Threat Analyst Rakesh Krishnan said that the hacker may have accessed the data even before it was released on the dark web. The purpose of this leak may be to establish the identity of the hacker in the cyber crime community. The profile of the hacker who has leaked this data is new and the leak is in his name.
